I love a good theme, and comedians know how to work a prop. It’s hard not to slip into cheese though, thankfully most of the funny folk I’ve worked with know exactly how they want to look. Sometimes it’s up to me though, and that’s when I have the most fun. Sarah Kendall is a great example. She had been out of the country living in the UK for about 8 or so years, she was back in town for Melbourne International Comedy Festival of 2012, and her classic looks gave me inspiration to shoot her underwater. Luckily her hotel room had a bath, and Sarah, being a super good sport, agreed to my idea. Neither of us signed up for the plasticine we had to insert in her nose to stop the bubbles rising, but we did have a good giggle.
